I consider myself to be a pretty happy guy, but I met my match and then some in Ruth King. Her giggly, infectiously cheerful disposition belies the gravity of the profound work she puts forth in this world. An international insight meditation teacher, life coach, diversity consultant, and author, Ruth teaches te ‘Mindful of Race’ training program to organizations, which blends mindfulness meditation principles with an exploration of our racial conditioning, its impact, and our potential. Her book, Mindful of Race, has been referred to as healing medicine for the suffering of racism.
Every time I would put down the camera, a poignant conversation would ensue that made me rethink my own views on racism and even explore my own racial lineage in ways I had never considered before. When I needed a break, I’d simply grab the camera and continue shooting ;).
